Impact on Academia
The UK~IRC is a cutting-edge collaboration between two of the UK's leading universities - the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London - both leaders in the study of innovation. The Centre unites leading academics from both institutions to understand and advance the relationship between academia and policy.

| Our Services project analysed the Design industry for the Design Council and BIS, as wel as analyses of the architectural and engineering consultancy industries. | Our Open Innovation project produced results from its large scale survey of UK manufacturing firms, leading to a report launched in July 2010. | The Evidence-based Policy project published a report entitled the UK R&D landscape with the CIHE, as well as collaboration with CSaP. |

We will also run the Open Innovation: New Insights and Evidence conference at Imperial College London in June 2012, celebrating the field, with an associated Research Policy Special Issue. There will also be an Innovation Summit in November / December 2012.

We've also run numerous dissemination workshops including:
- An evening seminar on Open Innovation in Small Firms and a workshop on Business and the Third Mission.
- Two evening seminars on Managing Successful Business Model Innovation in Manufacturing as part of ESRC Social Sciences Week, held at Imperial College London and Manchester Business School
- Two workshops on University-Industry links, one with Professor Maryann Feldmann on the Wealth of Universities and one on Managing University-Industry Centres.
- Early Career Research event on New Frontiers in Innovation
- Evidence-Based Policy and Practice Workshop Professional Services: Innovations and Practices
- Ammon Salter was promoted to Professor at Imperial College London and gave his inagural lecture in March 2011.
In the last year we have attracted nearly 70 external presenters to our conferences and events, representing over 50 institutions representing Business, Academia and Policy communities. These include speakers from Boeing UK, IBM, Pfizer, BIS, NESTA, TSB, Cass Business School, University of California, UKTI and Philips.
